New claims for solar products

Modern scientific researches have demonstrated by now how exposure to sun rays causes severe damages to the skin and to our organism, the opposite of what we thought in the Eighties when a strong tan symbolized physical and economic well-being.
Scientific researches performed by associations which fight against cancer have also established that sun beds, used by those who want to be tanned all year round or who wrongly believe to prepare their skin for the sun baths, cause even worst damages than the sun itself.
Nowadays, the consumer is always more aware and informed. He pays attention to the health of his skin and tries to protect it in an adequate manner. Cosmetic companies, following the European Commission Recommendations and COLIPA Guidelines, have created lines of solar products with very high protection factors 50+ and high protections such as 30, to be added to middle protections like 20 or low like 10 and 6.
Furthermore, in these last years the awareness of the danger caused by UVA rays has spread out.
Companies producing solar products have modernized their formulae adding anti-UVA filters and showing the UVA logo on the label. Unfortunately, the ordinary consumer does not understand completely the meaning of terms like UVA, UVB, SPF, WR printed on the product label. At the end, most products already take care of the consumer even more than he may be aware of.
In order to distinguish themselves in the huge market of the solar products, recently companies have started to consider not only the protective effects of their products, but also the ones more strictly related to pleasantness and pleasure in use. In details, products with high solar protection are or were often unpleasant to apply because they leave a white track on the skin and they are also sticky. These uncomfortable sensations reduce the efficacy because the consumer tends to apply a smaller amount of product.
So, solar products transparent on the skin were born, with light and non-sticky texture.
At the seaside another disadvantage we meet is the sand. It is not pleasant to lay down and find ourselves covered by sand that unlikely will move away. The new claims promise that sand will not attach, so that you can have real comfort during your exposition to sun. The solar product can be easily spread but it is not sticky. Sand does not attach or it is simple to remove even passing the hand or whatever tissue on the body.
Applying the solar protection after swimming is always annoying. In very warm hours we repeatedly go in and out from the sea or the pool. Then we have to dry our skin, we have to apply the solar product again but, after few moments, we really want to bathe again. Our temptation is to not apply a solar product again, so risking erythema, burning and even worst damages.

In recent years, after WR and Very WR products, new products were born: WET SPF, the latest products in summer 2016, that can be directly applied on wet skin.
And the claim list goes on with “abrasion resistant” and “sweat resistant” products.
